The Ladies Home Journal – January 1905

I still haven’t figured out the best way to share my The Ladies Home Journal¬†(I wrote about it here) with you. So, I’ve decided to take pictures of ads or pictures that I’d like to show you and will share them once a week. Many of the articles are too long for me to retype out and my attempts at scanning them in have failed to be readable.

I loved this picture though.

The Ladies’ Home Journal – 1905

Last year I acquired January through December 1905 of The Ladies’ Home Journal¬†at an insanely reasonable price. Okay, it was a little pricey, but not nearly as much as you would think. It was affordable for me, so they became mine!

I’m really interested in life at the turn of the century and this seemed a perfect way to see what a typical housewife was doing over 100 years ago. And I’m trying to figure out a way to share the articles with you. I haven’t even begun to explore many of them because I wanted to wait to experience them here.¬†

The articles are long and the pictures are too interesting not to share also.

As many of you know, magazines were much larger back then. I can’t just scan the articles on my scanner and they are quite long to type out. I don’t have one of those wand scanners and I’m not even sure that would work. I’ll figure out a way though. If you have any ideas, I’m open for suggestions!
